NEGAUNEE — Prepare for a goofy time, in honor of the one and only Goofus.

Goof-Fest is set to take place from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Smarty’s Saloon in Negaunee. The festival is set to raise money for the “Goofus Scholarship” at Negaunee High School.

“Join us in the remembrance of our dear friend Goofus at his favorite downtown watering hole for drinks, tales of the man himself, 50/50 raffles and karaoke from Pierre Ogea,” the event description reads. “Come on down and support NHS and celebrate our seniors just like our friend Goofus would. Rock on.”

Goofus, otherwise known as Alan Wayne Ammesmaki, passed away in March of 2018 and was known for his charitable nature, playing his polka-cello at events and much more. This event is a way for people to honor his memory by being charitable and telling stories about him.

Starting at $2.99/week.
