Vehicle stolen from Marquette driveway stopped in Brevort

MARQUETTE — A vehicle stolen from a Marquette driveway Feb. 14 was located 140 miles away in the eastern Upper Peninsula community of Brevort.

The owner of the Ford SUV reported it stolen from her residence on the 1100 block of Presque Isle Avenue.

The vehicle was taken sometime before 8 a.m.

Using electronic tracking, Marquette police were able to determine the SUV was traveling eastbound through the Upper Peninsula.

The vehicle’s location was relayed to Michigan State Police troopers patrolling along U.S. 2. The troopers conducted a traffic stop on that roadway less than two hours after it had been reported missing.

The driver and lone occupant of the stolen SUV, Tristan Rahn, 18, of Germfask was arrested and transported to the Mackinac County Jail.

Rahn was charged with stolen property-receiving and concealing-motor vehicle, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

The report was submitted to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for review of additional charges.
