Marquette County chooses new administrator
MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Board of Commissioners has chosen former Marquette Township Administrator Dennis Liimatta to replace the retiring Scott Erbisch as Marquette County Administrator.
After three interviews during a special meeting by the Marquette County Board of Commissioners on Monday, the Board unanimously selected Liimatta for the role and began negotiating his hiring contract after his interview.
“It speaks to the values that I look for,” said Board Chairman Joe Derocha. “One is honesty, so when an individual comes up in front of a board and you’re straightforward and honest I like that. Me personally I am looking for four things: I am looking for intellect, I am looking for work ethic, common sense and absolute honesty is so important; and I think you’ve met that bar today.”
The contract still needs to be negotiated before Liimatta will assume the new role as County Administrator.
“I ask you to hold me accountable,” said Liimatta. “And I am going to hold you accountable.
Liimatta has served as the Township Superintendent in Grand Blanc for nearly a decade, and he has served as the Marquette Township Supervisor for six years.
