Schoolcraft hospital CEO to resign in April

BERTAPELLE

MANISTIQUE — Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital announced that Andy Bertapelle, its chief executive officer, stepped down from his role, effective April 4. Bertapelle has served as CEO since July 2022 during which time he has been a driving force behind several key initiatives that have significantly enhanced the hospital’s operations and community impact, according to a hospital news release.

Bertapelle has accepted another CEO position in the state of Washington.

Bertapelle shared his sentiments.

“This decision was not made lightly. Leading this organization has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life. I am immensely proud of the strides we have made together — improving patient care, expanding services and fostering a culture of excellence and compassion. These accomplishments are a testament to the talent, dedication and resilience of our team.”

Over the next three months, Bertapelle will work with the board of trustees, the senior leaders and all of Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital to support a seamless transition.

“On behalf of the board of trustees and the entire Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Andy for his invaluable contribution to our great hospital and this community through his visionary leadership and unwavering dedication,” said Peter Hood, chair of the board of trustees. “We wish him the very best in his future endeavors and look forward to building on the strong foundation he has established.”

The board of trustees will initiate a comprehensive search for Bertapelle’s successor to ensure a smooth transition. In the interim, Bertapelle will continue to oversee the hospital’s operations and continue to advance its mission of delivering high-quality health care to the community.
