MASTODON TOWNSHIP — A man and woman were arrested after police raided a suspected methamphetamine lab at an Iron County residence.
Police have not named the suspects who have been charged with crimes related to manufacturing the drug.
Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team detectives had been investigating the man and woman for several months, according to a press release issued by UPSET team commander Tim Sholander.
On Wednesday, detectives received information that the male suspect was manufacturing methamphetamine and executed a search warrant at his Mastodon Township home.
During the search, police seized various chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine, including lye, solvents, lithium metal, sulfuric acid and salt. The search also yielded numerous containers used to manufacture methamphetamine as well as completed meth products.
The suspects remained lodged in the Iron County Jail as of Thursday afternoon.
Detectives from UPSET were assisted by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, West Iron County Fire Department and Iron River Aspirus EMS.
