St. Vincents benefits from Cheer Club

Annual effort helps support local agency during Christmas season

MARQUETTE — Donations are coming in for the 2024 Christmas Cheer Club and many entities, including St. Vincent de Paul, benefit from the effort.

Over the past few weeks, the Journal has received a variety of donations from the community and organizations, including monetary contributions delivered by Neil Jandron on behalf of himself and Jandron’s Fine Jewelry, stuffed animals collected by Northern Michigan University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and bags of toys brought in by the Marquette Firefighter’s Local 643 Union.

The Cheer Club is a joint endeavor between The Mining Journal, the Salvation Army of Marquette County and St. Vincent de Paul. Donations are collected and distributed through programs programs hosted by each organization.

The Journal is accepting donations including but not limited to toys, books, art supplies, hygiene items, winter hats and gloves, gift cards, board and card games and, of course, money.

Those interested in dropping off any items can do so during The Mining Journal’s business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The publication is located at 249 W. Washington St. in Marquette.

Abby LaForest can be reached at 906-228-2500, ext. 548. Her email address is alaforest@miningjournal.net.
