MARQUETTE — The Mining Journal is accepting donations for its annual Cheer Club fundraiser until mid-December.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be given to the Salvation Army of Marquette County’s Toy Shop and St. Vincent de Paul’s Christmas Program, supporting these local nonprofits by helping those in need for the holidays. With a shortened timeline this year in comparison to previous Cheer Clubs, those looking to participate are encouraged to get their donations in as soon as possible.

In addition to toys, the Cheer Club is looking for presents consisting of books, clothes, hygiene products, winter hats and gloves, and gift cards for children of all ages. Gifts for teenagers are particularly in demand, such as Bluetooth speakers, makeup, board games and art supplies. Monetary donations are also accepted.

The Mining Journal will be accepting contributions until close of business on Dec. 13, after which donations will be picked up for distribution to each Christmas program.

Folks are welcome to drop off donations during business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, at 249 W. Washington St. in Marquette.

Starting at $4.62/week.
