West End Update – City of Negaunee
Tinseltown now in full swing
NEGAUNEE — The decorations are out and the preparations have been made – that’s right, Tinseltown is today!
The city is excited to welcome this annual event that will start out the holidays with fun-filled festivities for the whole family in the heart of downtown Negaunee from 4 to 8 p.m
This holiday celebration brings back the sights and sounds of a traditional holiday festival. The Negaunee Downtown Development Authority with special sponsors like Honor Credit Union, UPEA, Contrast Coffee, Cattron’s Lumber, and TV6, in addition to many dedicated Negaunee business owners made the event possible.
If your family is looking for a fun night out where lasting holiday memories will surely be made, Tinseltown could be an essential part of this festive season. You can always start by making a sweet treat at Campfire Coffee’s outdoor S’mores station, then traversing our ever-popular Tunnel of Lights, take part in hay rides by Marquette Hope, or take the kids for miniature horse rides.
The DDA also welcomes back the Crafter’s Market at City Center/Negaunee Mall from 3 to 7 p.m. And don’t forget the annual wine tasting at the Negaunee VFW.
Tinseltown is also a great time to visit all our other wonderful downtown businesses where great deals await you.
And whether you are on a hay ride or from the comfort of your vehicle, make sure to visit Gingerbread Lane – our newest attraction on Rail Street. Come and see the gingerbread village. The journey starts with homes in the countryside, then moves to a bustling downtown and finally to a quiet farm. Gingerbread Lane will capture the imagination of any young-at-heart visitor for years to come.
Feel free to get a little holiday cheery as you move along Iron Street by taking advantage of Negaunee’s Social District. Several vendors will be selling hot alcoholic beverages for those 21-years and older. Please review the rules of the social district and be aware that no outside alcohol is allowed within district boundaries.
The Tinseltown parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and travel down Iron Street, ending at the bandshell where Santa himself with his magical power will light the Christmas Tree. He will also visit all the good little girls and boys at the Negaunee Elks. Hope you were good this year!
Those interested participating in the parade can contact Pete Munson at 906-361-8524, lineup begins at 5:30 on Tobin Street, near the Negaunee Senior Center.
Hay rides will start and end near Jackson’s Pit at beginning at 4 p.m. with a brief break at 6 p.m. for the parade. Come early to catch a ride.
Please note parking will be limited on Iron Street and several other streets during this event. Signs will be posted in the areas where parking is prohibited. No parking will be allowed on Iron Street starting at 3 p.m., but some parking availability will be restored after the parade.
Come and forge a holiday adventure and some wonderful memories in downtown Negaunee today
