‘Far out’ observance right around corner

REPUBLIC — Boogie on down to Republic for Retro Days 2023 this Saturday.
Republic will host a day full of 1970s-themed celebrations and activities.
Kicking off the morning, the River Road Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m. at M-95 and River Road. Registration will be held from 8-8:45 a.m. Registration for the fun run can be found at runsignup.com/Race/MI/Republic/RiverRoad5KFunRun.
The 1970s-themed parade will be led by “Disco Dogs” in honor of National Dog Day. According to the event’s Facebook page, dogs and their owners will be dressed in their “radical” 1970s attire with awards going out for best costumes.
Retro Days Parade reminders for “Disco Dogs” are:
≤ All pets must be on a leash or crated.
≤ Stay with the “Disco Dogs” group at the front of the parade. Meet at Kloman and 5th.
≤ No animals in heat or agressive behaviors. Muzzle and use “give me space” yellow bandana if anxious or reactive.
≤ No flexi-leashes or retractable leashes are allowed during the parade.
≤ Do not allow anyone to feed or pet your dog during the parade.
≤ Only positive reinforcement control is allowed.
≤ Dogs must be escorted by someone who can maintain control of their dog at all times.
≤ Dogs need to be up to date on vaccines.
≤ Foot/paw power only (exceptions may be arranged for special needs).
≤ Pet owners must pick up their pet’s “refuse” before, during and after the parade. Bring the necessary disposable bags to use.
Following the parade will be several activities for all ages on Kloman and Front streets.
≤ Local crafters, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
≤ Historical display with coffee and sweets at the Welcome Center, noon-5 p.m.
≤ Bounce houses, noon-5 p.m.
≤ Edge of Reality Virtual Reality stations at Town Hall, 1-5 p.m.
≤ Corn Hole Tournament at Pine Grove, 2 p.m. Registration will take place at 1:30 p.m.
≤ Matt Byce Music at Pine Grove, noon-2 p.m.
≤ Lillian Manceau Music at Pine Grove, 3-5 p.m.
≤ Polar Blues Band at Pine Grove, 8 p.m.-midnight.
≤ Sing-along at Methodist Church, 7:30 p.m.
Croatian chicken, popcorn and cotton candy will be available along with the Grateful Cheese Truck.
