Marquette Chiropractors Office: Improving lives

MARQUETTE – Dr. Dan Dunbar is back home fulfilling his dream, through taking over Marquette Chiropractors Office.

“I want to improve the quality of the lives of the community members I have the privilege to serve through chiropractic care” Dr. Dunbar said. “I left the area eight years ago to pursue my dream and study chiropractic,” Dr. Dunbar said. “I spent my first 4 years earning my doctorate in Davenport, Iowa and the last 4 years gaining clinical experience in Pittsburgh, PA and Nashville, Tennessee. I am really looking forward to bringing my chiropractic experience back to the UP so I can help others the way it has helped my family.””

A born and raised Yooper, Dr. Dunbar found chiropractic treatment had a big impact on his family.

“I started seeing the benefits of chiropractic care at an early age when my dad started going in regularly for his bad back, Dr. Dunbar said. “Seeing a chiropractor helped him drastically reduce his pain as well as become more mobile and we were able to do more activities together. It brought us a lot closer.”

“But it didn’t end there. I also reaped the benefits of chiropractic care throughout my 18 years of hockey. It made me a better player on the ice and helped re-align me after some hard hits”

Dr. Dunbar graduated from Northern Michigan University, then attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa – the founding school of chiropractic.

After college, he worked in the field in busy urban offices, but always knew he wanted to return to the Upper Peninsula.

“The opportunity came up to take over a 30-year practice from Dr. Bill Houghton,” Dr. Dunbar said. “We’ll be offering many of the same services but also will be adding massage therapy, new adjusting techniques, and expanding office hours.”

Dr. Dunbar said his goal is to serve the community and to make community members healthier and happier.

“Chiropractic is a hands-on, holistic approach to making people healthier,” he said. “Our office will be patient-centric. We will be here to serve them.

“What’s most important is what the patient wants; what their goals are. I want to know what that person is really looking for. Do they want to get back to golfing? Do they want to be able to play with their kids or grandkids? Do they want be able to exercise? Do they simply want maximize their health and wellness in a natural way? Their goals are my goals. I am gearing myself into developing wellness partnerships with my patients. I want to help them develop an effective guide to overall health through adjustments, nutrition, exercise, and much more.”

And he wants visits to his office to be a great experience.

“It is important to me that we create a positive and happy atmosphere in our office, a place people enjoying coming to,” Dr. Dunbar said. “We will be empowering and compassionate with our patients.”

Dr. Dunbar said patients will have the ONCE screening: Orthopedic Neurological Chiropractic Examination, which is a comprehensive evaluation. If any X-rays are necessary they can be done right on site. “I want people to know we will have a proven treatment system in place and most likely we will be able to help you with an individualized care plan.”

“We want to help make people the best they can be,” Dr. Dunbar said. “Many people think of chiropractic as treatment for back pain, neck pain, and headaches, which it is great for, but it’s also much more than that. I adjust the spine and other joints taking away the interference to the nervous system, which allows our bodies to function at 100%! Everybody can benefit.”
