MARQUETTE - The Marquette Senior High School JV hockey team salvaged a win at the end of their three-game road trip last weekend, defeating the Hancock JV 5-2 on Sunday.

In that game, Redmen goals were scored by Zack Carter, Hunter Larson, Brendan Campbell, Ben Cole and Jacob Patterson, with assists going to Patterson, Campbell, Larson, Konnor LeFebrve, Tanner Carrierre, Caden Paquette, Trevor Koski and Pat Burmeister. Cody LaValley stopped 15 shots in goal to earn the win.

"We showed up at the right time for this game," MSHS coach Kevin Thomsen said. "We scored first and were able to sustain our pressure and play most of the game in their end."

In Friday night's opener, Marquette was outscored by the Calumet JV, 8-6, despite the Redmen holding a 40-30 edge in shots on goal.

Larson notched a three-goal hat trick, while Campbell, Koski and Patterson added single goals for MSHS. Campbell had a three-assist playmaker while David Wiegand and Mitchell Knox were among Redmen skaters with an assist. LaValley made 22 stops in the Redmen net.

In the middle game at the Houghton JV on Saturday, the Gremlins prevailed 4-2. Campbell had both Marquette goals with Paquette getting an assist and LaValley stopping 15 shots.
