CRYSTAL FALLS - The Crystal Theatre's 2013 "Gem of a Season" will open with historical and patriotic flair at 7 p.m. CT Saturday. Renowned theater organist Jim Riggs will accompany the World War I silent film classic "Wings" on the theater's "Mighty Moller" pipe organ.
Riggs has toured across the nation, in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand for more than 30 years. Riggs lives in Wichita, Kan., where he is Artist In Residence for the Wichita Theatre Organ Inc.
"Wings" is a 1927 film about two WWI fighter pilot friends, played by Buddy Rogers and Richard Arlen. Romance thickens the plot when they both fancy the same girl, played by Clara Bow, Paramount's biggest star at the time. Gary Cooper appears in a role that helped launch his Hollywood career and his real-life affair with Clara Bow.

Jim Riggs and Wings is the first of Crystal Theatre's eight-event summer "Gem of a Season." Patrons may still purchase season tickets prior to the?Saturday performance in Stage Left, next to the theater.
