HARVEY, Mich. - Richard E. "Dick" Allyn, Master Sergeant, USAF Retired, 484 Lakewood Lane, died peacefully on May 24, 2013, at age 76.

Dick was born in Plainfield, Vermont on February 27, 1937, to Stanley and Irene Allyn. He graduated from Classical High School in Springfield, Mass., in 1956 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Two years later, Dick married his wife, Patricia. Together, they spent the next 18 years on active duty serving at air bases in the U.S. and overseas. His last duty station was at K.I. Sawyer AFB, Mich., retiring in September 1976. They then made the Marquette area their permanent home. Following his military career, Dick and his wife Pat owned and operated American Nameplate in Marquette for 21 years, providing engraving services and various awards to the local area and beyond. Upon retiring a second time, they spent the next ten years traveling the U.S. in their RV, sightseeing and fly fishing most of the Blue Ribbon trout streams and rivers in Montana, Wyoming and the U.P., hitting ALL the casinos along the way. Dick was an avid sports fan, never missing a Tiger, Red Wing or Packer game.

Dick is survived by Patricia, his beloved wife of 55 years; one son, Michael (Rene) of Marquette; four daughters: Barbara (Shawn) Carver of Marquette, Christine Johnson of Pittsburgh, Pa., Terri (Mark) Genson of Bradley, Ill., and Jennifer (Scott) Johnson of Marquette; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene (Barbara) Allyn of Aiken, South Carolina; and sister-in-law, Barbara Henry of Kingwood, Texas.
