MARQUETTE - Winning all four doubles matches, the Marquette Senior High School boys tennis team beat visiting Negaunee on Wednesday, 5-3.
Mike Edwards and Matt Collins led the way, rallying for a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over Mike Anderson and Nick Martin.
"The last match out was No. 1 doubles," MSHS head coach Charlie Drury said after his team improved to 2-1-1 on the season. "Either the match was going to be 4-4, or 5-3.
"It was back-and-forth, but we edged (Negaunee) out 7-5 in the third."
In another three-set decision, Marquette's Billy Mullett and Mike Mlsna outlasted the Miners' Ben Luke and Doug Lindblom, 1-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-1.
The Miners dominated singles play, with Cody Tossava, Ryan Syrjala and Rob Sertich all winning at Nos. 1-3 singles, respectively.
