Prep softball: Gwinn shut out in weather-shortened game

NORWAY - The weather and Norway's Ashley Zanon conspired to keep Gwinn hitless in a 12-0, five-inning loss at Norway in a Mid-Peninsula Conference high school softball game played Thursday.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was called off due to the cold and rain at Marion Park.

Zanon got offensive support for her complete-game blanking of the Modeltowners as Bobbi Hulce smacked a three-run inside-the-park home run among her three hits. Rachel Conery and Bailey Grayvold added two hits each as Norway improved to 7-6 overall, 1-0 in the MPC.

Norway hosts Superior Central today, while next on the schedule for Gwinn is a doubleheader at Manistique at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
