NEGAUNEE - Former Negaunee resident Alexandria Casperson is serving as a legal intern to The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague, Netherlands.
Her internship includes preparing summary briefs for proceedings in the trials of former Serbian Army Gen. Ratko Mladic, Chief of Serbian Security Jovica Stanisic, and Serbian Intelligence Chief Franko Simatovic. All are charged with crimes against humanity for their roles in the alleged genocide of thousands of Bosnian Muslims during the 1990s break-up of the former Yugoslavia.
A Negaunee High School graduate in 2007, Casperson is a second-year law school student at Michigan State University. Before entering the Trial Practice Institute program at MSU, Casperson received a bachelor's degree in crime and social Justice from the University of Michigan in 2011.
She is the daughter of Kelly Rivard of Lansing and Greg Casperson of Marquette and the granddaughter of David and Sharon Rivard of Escanaba, Donald and Mary Casperson of Escanaba, and Faye Bowers of Marquette.
