To the Journal editor:
I wish the pretend Irish, and likely some of the real Irish, would learn that it is not "St. Patty's Day." It is St. Paddy's Day. Paddy is a diminutive form of Padraic, Patrick's in Gaelic.
Patty is the diminutive form of Patricia.
