ISHPEMING - The Ishpeming City Police Department has released the names of the drivers involved in a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Lakeshore Drive in Ishpeming.

Police said Austin Rivard, 17, of Ishpeming was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cavelier west on U.S. 41 when a 2007 Ford Explorer driving north on Lakeshore failed to stop for a red light and struck Rivard's car. The Explorer was driven by Samantha Yelland, 23, of Ishpeming.

Police said the force of the accident pushed Rivard's car out of control and it struck a 2006 Buick that was stopped for a red light at the intersection. That vehicle was driven by Valerie Arpiainen, 56, of Champion.

Rivard and a juvenile, who police declined to identify because of the person's age, were hurt in the crash. Both went to Bell Hospital in Ishpeming where they were treated for their injuries and later released, according to police.

The crash was reported at 2:35 p.m.
