Flat Broke plays Birkie race

MARQUETTE - The Flat Broke Blues Band from Marquette will perform as the featured entertainment Saturday at the 40th Annual American Birkebeiner "Birkie Bash" at the Telemark Lodge in Cable, Wis.

The American Birkebeiner is the largest cross-country ski race in North America and is made up of several events in addition to the 50K and 54K Birkie marathon races and the 23K Kortelopet race (the second largest ski race in North America). Events will run from Thursday through Saturday.

The band will play at 8 p.m. CST Saturday, following the day's Race-Day Slide Show, Native American dancers and an award ceremony for the Birkie and other races.
