Cora M. (Anderson) Burch

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Cora Marie Burch, age 97, of Round Lake Beach, Illinois, and former Marquette area resident, entered eternal life Sunday, February 10, 2013, at the Hillcrest Nursing Center in Round Lake Beach.

Born September 22, 1915 in Marquette, a daughter of Joseph and Albina (St. Amour) LaJeunesse, Cora was resided in the Marquette area most of her life. She was employed for many years as a cook at the former St. Mary's Hospital and at the Huron Mountain Club. In 1990, she moved to Lake Villa, Illinois. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Antioch, Illinois and Our Lady of Counsel Altar Society, AARP and the Senior Citizens Center in Antioch.

Locally, Cora was a former member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey. Cora was known as an accomplished cook and baker. Her family was her passion and she was always interested in the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie (John) Pizzuro of Wall Township, NJ; step-daughter, Eleanore Nesbitt of Marquette; her grandchildren, Heather (Andy) Chlapowski, John (Tonya) Pizzuro Jr, Pam Bogaerts, Marvin (Karoline) Gibson, Jon (Vera) Gibson, Tracy (Jim) McPeek, Jeff (Sandy) Gibson, and Steven Robare; 17 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Cora was preceded in death by her husbands, John Anderson in 1970 and Raymond Burch in 1985; a daughter, Janet and husband, Larry Robare; two step-daughters, Rose Thorne and Mary Paler; step son-in-law, Robert Nesbitt; a grandson, Mark Gibson; sisters, Leah and husband, Ernest Erickson and Florence and husband, Arthur Solstad; brothers, Joseph LaJeunesse and wife, Sylvia, Louis LaJeunesse and wife, Alice, and Earl LaJeunesse and wife, Joyce; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at St. Louis the King Catholic Church, Harvey, on Friday, February 15 beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Friday afternoon with Rev. Ben Paris, pastor, as celebrant. A reception will follow in Fr. Gauthier Hall. Burial will be made in the Northland Chapel Gardens.
