NEGAUNEE - Held to just two shots on net - both in the first period - the Negaunee High School hockey team lost to Calumet, 8-0, in a mercy rule contest at the Negaunee Ice Arena Tuesday night.

Eric Mattila led the Copper Kings with two goals and two assists. Lucas Lahnala added a marker and three helpers.

Tyler Riutta made 53 saves (23-23-7) in goal for Negaunee (3-16).

"Riutta played great, but Calumet is just a very good team," Negaunee head coach Eric Hill said. "(The Copper Kings) move the puck well and it's fun to watch if you're not on the losing end.

"They're so fast, any opportunity we had to get the puck, they were on us."
