Laina S. (Eliason) Dunn

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Laina S. (Eliason) Dunn, age 84, of 1600 Mill Creek Ct., #7, Marquette, entered eternal life on Sunday, February 3, 2013 while a patient in the ICU at Marquette General Hospital.

Laina was born February 19, 1928 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of Matt and Saima (Parrie) Eliason. She grew up in the family home in Humboldt and was a graduate of the Champion High School, Class of 1945. Upon her graduation from high school she moved to Marquette and was employed as a telephone operator with Michigan Bell. Laina worked her way up to supervisor with Michigan Bell, a job in which she took great pride in. Laina retired in 1978 with over 33 years with the company and was a member of the Bell Pioneers. She was also a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette.

Survivors include her 4 brothers Edwin Eliason of Humboldt, Ray (Darleen) Eliason of Ishpeming, Dennis (Julie) Eliason of Ishpeming, and Paul (Elaine) Eliason of Humboldt, a sister-in-law Freda Greenway of Marquette, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Dunn, a brother Arne Eliason and an infant brother Wilfred Eliason.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday February 7, 2013 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Marquette. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Amanda Kossow and Rev. David Van Kley to officiate. Interment will take place in the spring at the Humboldt Township Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Edwin, Ray, Paul and Matt Eliason, John Koski Jr. and Mike Franz.

The family would like to thank the ICU at Marquette General Hospital along with Dr. Bjork and nurse Lois and the Mill Creek Assisted Living Center for their tender care, and to Pastor Amanda of Messiah Lutheran Church for her visits.
