ISHPEMING - The future of the old J.C. Penney lot in Ishpeming is still undecided following a discussion at this week's Ishpeming Downtown Development Authority meeting.
Mike and Jil Koski, owners of Congress Pizza, were invited to the DDA meeting to discuss the Penney lot, which sits adjacent to their business on the corner of Main Street and Cleveland Avenue.
"I thought it would be easier than this to obtain the lot," Mike Koski said. "But it's starting to become a major hassle to the point where we don't even want to deal with it anymore."

At the meeting, DDA Chairman David Aeh said he wanted to see actual drawings of what the Koskis wanted to do with the lot. Aeh said the DDA wants to see something go there that matched the downtown area.
"I don't have to see a big fancy drawn up sketch of what you want to do," Aeh said to the Koskis. "I would just like see a drawing that will help me see what you want to do."
At the meeting, a motion was made and supported to have a committee sit down with the Koskis to possibly work out a plan for purchasing the lot and to get a better idea of what the Koskis want to do with the property.
