Helen K. ‘Kitty’ Zimmerman

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Helen Kathryn "Kitty" Zimmerman, age 59, former Beaver Grove area resident, entered eternal life Monday evening, January 21, 2013, at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming, where she had resided since November 2012.

Kitty was born April 18, 1953, a daughter of Marvin and Mildred (Johnson) Zimmerman, and was raised in Eckerman. While in the seventh grade, she moved to the Marquette area with her parents and graduated from the Graveraet High School. She enrolled at Northern Michigan University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Kitty was employed with the Michigan Department of Social Services (now Department of Human Services), beginning her career in Manistique, then serving at the office in Munising, and finally working in the Marquette office, retiring in 2008. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling, was an avid reader, and especially loved her cats.

Kitty is survived by an aunt, Dorothy Scott of Brimley; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Kaye and Bernard Clarke.

Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Friday, January 25, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Stacy Nelson will officiate and burial will be made in the Park Cemetery.
