NEGAUNEE, Mich. - Lona C. Stagliano, 87, formerly of 98 Croix Street, Negaunee, died early Monday afternoon, January 21, 2013 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had resided since May, 2010.
Lona was born March 11, 1925 in Negaunee to Lillian Mallett, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1943, and was a lifelong Negaunee resident.
She was employed with numerous jobs during her working career: for Pickands Coal Company as a bookkeeper, at the Breitung Hotel as a cook and housekeeper, as the manager of the Negaunee Youth Center, and also at the St. Paul Catholic Church rectory as a cook and housekeeper until her retirement.
Mrs. Stagliano was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee. Her faith was her life, praying the Rosary daily. She loved music and most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are 3 sons: Michael Stagliano of Marquette, George (April) Stagliano and Peter (Jill) Stagliano, both of Negaunee; 6 grandchildren: Heather Stagliano, April and Stephen Stagliano, Craig (Kathie) Stagliano, Christy (Robert) Baer, and Tony (Jessica) Stagliano; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Lona was preceded in death by her mother, her husband Salvatore Stagliano in 1966, and several brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 24th at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating.
