Negaunee cross country honored for academics

NEGAUNEE - Members of the Negaunee High School boys and girls cross country teams have been cited for their academics.

NHS athletic director Andrew Brunette reports both teams have received Academic All-State honors.

The boys had a team grade point average of 3.660 this past fall, the girls 3.569.

NHS individual Academic All-State runners were Zach Carlson,Keenan Gantz, Wyleen Kniola and Clara Churchill.

In addition, the Miners' varsity football team gained honorable mention Academic All-State with a GPA of 3.710.

The squad was ranked fifth in the state for Division 6 teams, Brunette said.
