MANISTIQUE - Gage Webster poured in 19 points and Ben Stasewich hauled down 14 rebounds to spark the Munising High School boys basketball team to a 37-31 non-conference victory over host Manistique on Tuesday night.

The Mustangs (3-1) of head coach Dan Waterman outscored the Emeralds (2-5) by a 13-7 count in the fourth quarter.

"It was an ugly offensive game to watch," Waterman said. "Part of that was on our end with some sloppy play, but Manistique also took away a lot of our pet plays.

"I'm real happy with the kids. They fought and won in a tough environment on the road."

Waterman also lauded Webster.

"He's struggling with his shot right now, but he made two absolutely huge baskets for us in the fourth quarter," Waterman said.

Zach Lambert tossed in 11 points for the Emeralds.

Munising won the JV game, 46-43.

Superior Central 82,

Engadine 42

Trevor Maki tossed in 20 points to lead Superior Central to a non-conference road win over Engadine on Tuesday night.

With the triumph, SC is now 4-3 on the season.

Pickford 64,

Newberry 54

Pickford jumped out to a 26-23 halftime lead after trailing 14-10 after one quarter.

Both teams exploded for 24 points in the third, but Newberry only managed seven fourth-quarter points while Pickford poured it on with 14.

Dustin Brown led the Indians in scoring with 15 points.
