MARQUETTE - A Marquette man was arraigned in Marquette County District Court Monday on a felonious assault charge after he allegedly threatened a nurse with a knife at Marquette General Hospital Saturday night.

Robert Allen Wallace, 48, is scheduled to next appear in court at 3:15 p.m. Jan. 18. Bond was set at $1,000. The charge is a felony carrying a possible maximum penalty of four years in prison and a $2,000 fine.

Marquette City Police Department officers were dispatched to the hospital emergency room at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday on a report that a subject had threatened a nurse with a knife. Police said it was determined Wallace had allegedly brandished the knife while a nurse was speaking to him in a waiting room.

Police said the nurse felt threatened and left Wallace and called police.

Northern Michigan University Public Safety officers, who were on duty at the time in the hospital, responded to the scene and said they removed the knife from Wallace without incident.
