MARQUETTE - Two people were taken into custody Friday on charges of kidnapping. The Forsyth Township Police Department is investigating the incident after a child's father and grandmother refused to turn the child over to its mother. The child was reported missing last weekend by its mother, police said.

The 25-year-old father was arrested Friday morning by the Marquette County Sheriff's Office. The 58-year-old grandmother was arrested Friday afternoon in Delta County.

Both the father and grandmother are being charged with kidnapping - custodial interference, a felony. They are currently lodged at the Marquette County Jail while awaiting arraignment.

Assisting in the case were the Marquette County Sheriff's Office and the Michigan State Police.
