Carole A. Wooten

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Carole A. Wooten, 65, of Marquette, passed away Friday morning, December 21, 2012, at Bell Hospital in Ishpeming with her loving family at her side. The Lord called Carole home because He wanted a beautiful angel to stand by His side.

Carole was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Marquette on March 3, 1947, a daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa (Dougherty) Finck and was a lifelong Marquette resident having been raised on Blemhuber Avenue in South Marquette.

Carole was a 1965 graduate of Bishop Baraga High School. She was a loving child care provider, working as a foster care mother and caring for numerous newborn babies. She also worked many years as a day care worker. A proud homemaker, after her children were grown, Carole worked for Little Friends.

She was a former treasurer and secretary for many years of the Marquette Laughing Whitefish Audubon Society. She was an avid bird watcher and participated in many bird counts.

Carole always attended and was supportive of both her children's and grandchildren's activities. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Carole was a very brave fighter of three major battles with her health over her lifetime. She fought to the very end and will be missed by all who knew her especially her husband, Clifford Wooten, whom she married on March 2, 1968, at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette; three loving daughters, Lisa (Michael) Holmgren of Ishpeming, Connie (David) Mason of Marquette and Christine (William) Day of Abrams, WI; five grandchildren, Brandon and Steven Holmgren, Carl Anderson, Joanna Holmgren, and Elliot Mason; one brother, Joseph (Deborah) Finck of Mount Pleasant, MI; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Connor of New Bern, NC; two nieces, Elizabeth and Emily Finck, both of Chicago; also numerous cousins and many, many close and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Finck on July 23, 2000 and her mother, Teresa Finck on February 16, 2011.

Carole's family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, December 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at St. Michael Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon Thursday in the church with the Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating and Deacon David Adler assisting. Spring burial will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Carole's grandsons will act as her pallbearers.
