The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE -Sandy Blau, housing agent for Michigan State Housing Development Authority, a public housing agency funded by HUD, informed the directors of the program in Lansing of her retirement the end of this year.

Blau's agency, R&S Blau Associates LLC in Marquette, located in Chippewa Square, has serviced Marquette and Alger counties for 22 years. For the past three years they have also serviced Chippewa, Luce and Mackinaw counties. The program's mission is to provide safe, decent, affordable housing for the less fortunate.

The agency was instrumental in introducing the HUD Family Self Sufficiency Program, Welfare To Work Program, and partnered in the organization of the local Continuum of Care program. The CoC is a collaboration of several dedicated agencies focused on the health and welfare of the needy in our communities

Lynn Williams, manager of the Marquette office, served as the CoC chairman several years and as the regional rep on the state board. Jody Peterson managed the agencies program in Chippewa, Luce, and Mackinaw counties.
