MSHS swimmers wins three relays at Westwood

ISHPEMING - Marquette won three events while several other area schools picked up runner-up finishes at the Westwood Relays high school swim meet at the Patriots pool on Saturday.

Marquette won the boys' 200-yard backstroke relay along with two girls events - the 200 breaststroke and 400 individual medley relays.

Names were not available from these teams.

In addition, MSHS was also second in the girls 200 butterfly, boys 200 butterfly and mixed 15-and-over 500 freestyle relays.

Westwood was runner-up in the girls 200 free and boys 200 breast relays, while the GRIMN cooperative team made up of swimmers from Negaunee, Ishpeming, Gwinn and Republic-Michigamme got second places in the boys 400 free and mixed 18-under 500 free relays.

Houghton was the day's big winner, taking six of the meet's 16 events, while Rudyard had three first places and Kingsford and Sault Ste. Marie had two apiece.
