MARQUETTE, MI - Patricia Brannon, age 82, of 1306 North Bay Court, Marquette, joined the Lord on November 26, 2012.
Patricia was born on July 14, 1930 to Isabella and Frank Miller, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Patricia, affectionately known as Pat by those who loved her, graduated from Chamberlain High School in Washington, D.C. in 1947 and married Lawrence Brannon in 1948.
Pat lived an extraordinary life. After graduation, she began her career as an executive secretary working at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH where she was recognized for outstanding competence and devotion to duty.
After leaving her work with the government, Pat and her late husband Lawrence successfully started and ran several different businesses including Larry's Trucking, Container Service, L & E Trucking, and Dayton Fiber Insulation. Pat was known for her excellent organizational skills, business sense, and tireless work ethic.
Pat enjoyed traveling and spent much of her golden years traveling the world with her children. Some of her most memorable adventures included riding a camel past the pyramids in Egypt, picnicking at the Taj Mahal in India, cruising along the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, walking along the great wall of China, going on safari in Africa, and visiting palaces, museums, and sites across both Eastern and Western Europe.
Pat was the mother of two college professors, a successful businessman, and an artist. She accomplished much in her lifetime. However, her greatest accomplishment and role was that of a devoted mother, inspiration, and support for her children. Each day she modeled humility, compassion, and love. She taught her children through example how to live with passion, courage, faith, and humor.
She could find good in any situation and even managed to bring cheer and laughter to the hospital where she spent her final days. Even then, she found joy in reminiscing about her love for old movies, rearranging her furniture, shopping for bargains, and going for walks with her beloved dog Ellie. Her strength, courage, and faith were truly an inspiration. As a member of St. Michael Catholic Parish of Marquette, she was an active participant in the prayer chain, served as a greeter at the church, and also participated in Eucharistic Adoration until only a few weeks before her passing.
She is survived by her loving children and grandchildren: Lawrence and wife Carmen of Brooklyn, NY; Garry and wife Karen and daughters Caitlyn and Mackenzie of State College, PA; Laura of Manhattan, KS; and Diana and husband Howard and daughters Lily and Chelsea of Lombard, IL. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Beth Allen of Marquette who were a constant support throughout her final days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, sister Dolores, and brother John (Mickey).
The family will receive friends at St. Michael Catholic Church on Friday, November 30, beginning at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Friday with Rev. Larry Van Damme, pastor, as celebrant. A reception will follow in the St. Michael Parish Center. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 401 W. Kaye Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855 or Lake Superior Hospice Association, 914 W. Baraga Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855.
Although she will be greatly missed, Pat's life and legacy will live on in all who were touched by her grace, humility, humor, and spirit. We were blessed to know her, love her, and will miss her always.
