The Mining Journal

ESCANABA - Jonathan Mead, CEO of the Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress, announced the addition of the U.P. Diabetes Outreach Network as one of UPCAP's program partners.

UPCAP will serve as fiduciary and employer for all staff working on UPDON activities.

As a program partner, UPDON will continue its mission of promoting partnerships to strengthen diabetes detection, prevention and treatment across the Upper Peninsula. UPDON director Ann Constance said the partnership with UPCAP will mean many good things for the UPDON mission.

"Both organizations understand the great need to support and enhance diabetes prevention and management services for all U.P. residents," Constance said. "Working within UPCAP will allow us the opportunity to continue to offer free and low-cost continuing education for healthcare professionals, free Personal Action Towards Health workshops and be the diabetes information hub for the entire Upper Peninsula. It also means we will have opportunities to work together to address other ways we can help better serve U.P. residents living with diabetes or pre-diabetes."

The UPDON office is at 2803 US 41 West in Marquette within the UPCAP Marquette office.

More information about UPDON is available at www.diabetesinmichigan. org/updon. Anyone interested in learning more about UPCAP's services can visit their website or dial 2-1-1 from anywhere in the U.P.
