ISHPEMING - The Ishpeming City Council will attend the Ishpeming Downtown Development Association meeting Monday to jointly discuss the Malton Road Project.
The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the City Hall conference room.
At it's last meeting the city council heard fromcouncilwoman Elaine Racine that the Malton Road Project was over budget and paving work originally included in the plan was taken out to compensate for the estimated $49,000 project overrun. According to DDA Chairman David Aeh, the city council has some concerns and this is the chance for the council voice them.
"This is a chance for the city council to talk to us about the project and a it's a chance for us to clarify some things and get everybody on the same page," Aeh said. "Communication is key here."
Aeh said if people are concerned about the project that they should come to the meeting to get an update on what's happening, though Aeh said he doesn't think there's reason to be concerned just yet.
"We just found out at our last meeting that we were over budget, so until there's been a couple of different meetings I personally don't think there's any reason to be concerned right now," Aeh said. "But that's just my personal opinion."
The project was scheduled to be completed before winter, but due to complications the deadline was extended to Spring 2013. As of now, the northern portion of the road will be gravel and maintained throughout the winter.
After the discussion with the council the meeting will continue with other agenda items such as an update on other bond projects like the old J.C. Penney Lot and the waste water project that will start next year.
