GWINN, Mic. - Josephine Maki, 83, of Gwinn, passed away Thursday morning, November 15, 2012, at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming.
She was born April 11, 1929 in Harvey, a daughter of the late John and Rose (Beaudin) VanWormer and was raised on a farm in Sands Township. She attended and graduated from Negaunee High School.
Josephine was employed for many years as a seamstress at Gossard's in Gwinn and Ishpeming and later worked as a waitress at the A&W in Gwinn until retirement.
She was a member of the Gwinn VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed bingo, baking, gardening, sewing and trips to the casino.
She is survived by a son, William (Debbie) Saari of Gwinn; grandchildren, Lindsey Saari, Michael (Jennifer) Jakubowski and Steven Jakubowski, all of Gwinn; great-grandchildren, Alexa and Paul Jakubowski; a brother, Wesley VanWormer of Milwaukee, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Clarence Saari and Paul Maki; a daughter, Linda Jakubowski; and siblings, Guy, Charles, Robert, Joseph, Frank, James, Marion and Florence.
A private memorial service will be held.
