MARQUETTE - Shawn Wagner of Marquette was recently hired as the new vice president of operations with HeartCare Midwest, a member of OSF HealthCare. Within his position, he will oversee day-to-day operations of the organization's practice locations and lead strategic planning, growth and strengthening efforts.
Prior to joining HeartCare Midwest, Wagner had served as chief operating officer for Upper Michigan Cardiovascular Associates, a 14-physician cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery practice in Marquette. He worked closely with the practice's financial, personnel, information management and operational systems, transitioned the group onto an electronic medical records platform and led growth efforts through establishment of a pacemaker clinic and joint venture imaging company. He holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Montana, a master of science degree in organizational management from the University of LaVerne in LaVerne, Calif., and a master in healthcare administration from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Wagner and his wife, Betty, have three children: Corinne, a sophomore at Western Michigan University; Jamie, in her freshman year at Albion College; and Nathan, a sophomore in high school.
Established in 1972, HeartCare Midwest is the largest cardiovascular group in central Illinois, with five office locations and 18 regional clinics. It is affiliated with the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria and has been involved in more than 120 clinical trials involving the latest trends and new developments in cardiovascular procedures and treatments.
Wagner will begin his new role in December and will be based in Peoria, Ill.
