ONTONAGON - The purchase of new radios from Anderson Communication in Marquette was approved at Monday night's Ontonagon Village Board meeting.
The cost of the equipment is not to exceed $4,198.
"We need it to be compliant with the (Federal Communications Commission) narrow banding requirements by Jan. 1, 2013," village manager Joseph Erickson said.
The council also approved the closure of River Street for Hometown Christmas.
The 400 and 500 block of the road will be closed between 6 and 8 p.m. Dec. 1 for a tree lighting and the entire street will be closed from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 for a parade.
