MARQUETTE - A pair of United States Olympic Education Center Greco-Roman wrestlers picked up silver medals at the New York Athletic Club Holiday International in New York City.
Max Nowry of Wheeling, Ill., earned a silver medal in the 55-kilogram weight class.
In the gold medal match, Nowry fell to two-time Olympian and USOEC alum Spencer Mango of Colorado Springs, Colo. Nowry trailed 0-3 in the first period and was pinned at 0:10 in the second, losing the best-of- 3 series.
USOEC wrestler Marcus Finau of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, faced Caylor Williams of YES Wrestling in the 96-kg gold medal match. Williams took the first period 4-1 and clinched gold with a pin at 1:30 in the second.
In the 120-kg bronze medal match, USOEC teammates faced off, with Parker Betts of St. Michael, Minn., taking the bronze over Toby Erickson of East Helena, Mont., 2-0, 2-0. Erickson ended the competition in fourth place.
