Helsten runs table in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING - Rob Helsten of Rumorz 1 ran the table and Nick Roberts of Tilden Club and Luke Elvetici of Rumorz 3 both had eight-ball breaks during Week 7 action in the Ishpeming Men's Pool League on Oct. 31.

Jack's 1 had the biggest win of the night, upending Hickey's 2, 22-2, while Wonder Bar downed Rumorz 1, 18-6, and Tilden Club dropped Paradise, 15-9.

In the closest matches of the week, Jack's 2 beat Rainbow, 14-10, Rumorz 3 eased past Hickey's 1, 14-10, Riverside defeated Rumorz 2, 14-10, and Jack's 3 squeaked past Wayside, 13-11.

In the Gwinn Women's Pool League, Sue Sparks and Kerri Laitari both had an 8-ball breaks.

In Week 7 results, Sturgis defeated Richmond Township, 10-5; the HideAway Tribe dumped Up North 11, 11-4; Happy Hour II stopped Full Throttle II, 9-6; and the American Girls downed Happy Hour 11-6.

Also, VFW trimmed UP North Lodge, 8-7;Full Throttle stopped the Rowdies, 10-5; and Cascade edged Crossroads, 8-7.

In the Ishpeming Women's Pool League, nothing changed at the top as the No. 1, 2 and 3 teams were all involved in 8-8 ties on Oct. 31.

First-place Hickey's I tied one of the second-place teams, American Legion, 8-8, while the other No. 2 team, Paradise, came up with the same score against Jack's III.

In other matches, Jack's I got out of the cellar with the only win of the week, 11-5, over Hickey's II. Rainbow tied Wonder Bar, 8-8, and so did Rumorz and VFW.

In Week 9 of the NCMPL?men's pool league in Gwinn, Cascade Inn II sank Happy Hour Bar II, 12-3; Cascade Inn bounced Full Throttle II, 11-4; Sturgis Saloon II dumped Happy Hour Bar, 11-4; and American Legion II beat Fat Boyz South, 10-5,

Also, VFW defeated Happy Hour Bar, 10-5; Cascade Inn III stopped Sturgis Saloon, 9-6; Jack's Hideaway II edged UP North Lodge, 8-7; and American Legion shaded Cross Roads Bar, 8-7.

"Gubba" Liquia ran a table for a win.
