The Mining Journal

ISHPEMING - Kirk Nigro of Ishpeming recently returned from a month in Macedonia as a senior consultant for the Woodrow Wilson School in Tetovo, Macedonia.

The year-old school is a private, kindergarten through 12th grade American-style school. All instruction above 5th grade is in English. Other languages taught are Albanian, German and Macedonian.

The school recently received accreditation from the Macedonian Ministry of Education.

In the future, Nigro and and Peter Cook of Berwick, Maine, the other senior consultant at the school, will be assisting the school in securing American and international accreditation.

Nigro, who will return to Macedonia in January, is retired from Northern Michigan University, where he was the director of the Upper peninsula Center for Educational Development for 15 years.
