EBEN - Fresh off receiving All-Upper Peninsula mention on Saturday, senior Dan Steward of Superior Central earned a player of the year honor Monday from the Bridge Alliance Conference in its eight-player football league.

He was also named a Bridge Alliance first-team wide receiver after receiving a similar honor among UPSSA Small Schools - Division 8 and eight-player - in All-U.P. balloting.

Steward was joined by senior Bryce Richard (6-4, 185) as a first teamer at wide receiver by the league, which includes nine schools in the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula.

Two more Cougars seniors also earned Bridge Alliance first-team honors - Trevor Maki (6-0, 185) at quarterback and Tyler Kienitz (6-0, 166) at linebacker.

Other SC players awarded mention were senior Colton Gauthier (5-8, 145) to the second team at defensive back and senior Britton Tyner (5-11, 185) as an honorable mention at linebacker.

Undefeated league champion Cedarville (8-0) captured two of the league's other three major awards, with the other going to Rapid River, which tied Superior Central for second place at 6-2.
