Sanderson, O’Brien, Giles highlight All-MPC volleyball team

NEGAUNEE - Gwinn, Ishpeming and Manistique each placed one player on the Mid-Peninsula Conference volleyball all-league team released on Thursday.

Kaylee Sanderson of Gwinn, Alesha O'Brien of Ishpeming and Monica Giles of Manistique all made the first team.

Superiorland players gaining spots on the second team were Katie Aho and Morgan Bruce of Gwinn; and Raeanne Robinson and Maryse Hinkson of Manistique.

Named to the All-MPC defensive specialist unit were Robinson of Manistique; Caitlin Korvela of Ishpeming; Lizzy VanBuren of Westwood; Ashley Veale of Negaunee; and Daabii Reinhardt of Gwinn.

The complete M-PC all-conference team:

First Team - Sarah Girard and Katelynn Johnson, Iron Mountain; Monica Giles, Manistique; Kaylee Sanderson, Gwinn; Alesha O'Brien, Ishpeming; and Bailey Grayvold, Norway.

Second Team - Maria Pirkola and Abby Gerhard, I.M.; Raeanne Robinson and Maryse Hinkson, Manistique; and Katie Aho and Morgan Bruce, Gwinn.

Defensive Specialist Team - Abby Gerhard, I.M.; Raeanne Robinson, Manistique; Bailey Grayvold, Norway; Caitlin Korvela. Ishpeming; Lizzy VanBuren, Westwood; Ashley Veale, Negaunee; and Daabii Reinhardt, Gwinn.

Honorable mention - Gianna Hill and Kari Sanford, I.M.; Ashley Veale, Negaunee; Shelby Talsma, Gwinn; Jessica Spencer, Ishpeming; and Heather Evosevich, Norway.
