CALUMET - Three long-time Calumet village officials who have chosen not to seek re-election in November were honored Tuesday for their years of service at the end of the village board meeting.

Trustee Dave Geisler read a resolution commending board President Tony Bausano, Clerk Joyce Bausano and President Pro-tem Joseph Mihal for a combined 52 years of service.

Geisler said Tony Bausano served as president from 1998 to 2002 and 2004 to present. He has also served on many other village boards and organizations.

Joyce Bausano was clerk from 1997 to 2007 and from 2008 to present.

Mihal was village clerk from 1992 to 1996 and president pro-tem since 2000. He also has or is serving on many local boards and organizations.

After reading the contributions to the community of the three members, Geisler closed the resolution by saying: "We value all you have done for our community. We will miss you. We will think of you often."

Village Comptroller Sue Dana said not all of what the Bausanos or Mihal did for the village are known by all residents, including sweeping the road sand from the sidewalks in the spring, cleaning the alleys and painting the council chambers at the village hall.

"There were many things they did over the years that were not part of their jobs," Dana said. "These people are some of the best stewards of the area. All three have a deep and genuine love for the Calumet community, especially the village. It's their home. They truly care about the people here. I will miss them."

Tony Bausano said he will miss being part of the council.

"It's been a pleasure," he said.
