NMU volleyball team swept at GLIAC/GLVC Crossover

AURORA, Ill. - Northern Michigan University lost its first two matches at the fifth annual Great Lakes Valley Conference/GLIAC Crossover volleyball tournament that began Friday.

The Wildcats lost in three straight games to Southern Indiana in the afternoon and Missouri-St. Louis in the evening to fall to 13-8 overall.

SIU (10-9) scored a 26-24, 25-23, 25-17 win as NMU junior Kalli Herron had 15 kills and junior Lina Lopes 11. Senior teammate Kalin Zimmerman tallied 18 digs and junior Kellisha Harley set up the offense with 36 assists. Junior Sarah Hamilton had four block assists.

MSL (8-12) won 25-20, 25-21, 25-18 as Herron tallied 15 kills and Lopes 10. NMU had 36 team kills and a .137 kill percentage. Harley added 28 more assists, while Zimmerman led the defense with 25 digs.

Northern wraps up the two-day tournament today with a 2 p.m. match against Lewis.
