NMU volleyball wins on road at Malone

CANTON, Ohio - The Northern Michigan University volleyball team came off of its two-game home losing streak to pull a four-set 25-20, 17-25, 25-18, 25-15 victory from new GLIAC conference member Malone University.

The win at Malone's Canton, Ohio campus pushed Northern to 12-5 overall and 5-3 in the GLIAC, while Malone now sits at 7-7 overall and 3-5 in the league.

Leading the Wildcats was Kalli Herron with 13 kills and five aces, while Sarah Hamilton and Lina Lopes both notched 11 kills. Kalin Zimmerman took over on the defensive end with 21 digs.

Lopes also had three aces and 12 digs for the 'Cats.

Malone was led by Taylor Slauterbeck on offense as she had 11 kills and eight digs. Jackie Schamberger also added 13 digs for the Pioneers in the loss.

Northern is moving on to Walsh University, where it plays today at 2 p.m. Northern will be back home on Tuesday at 7 pm. for a match-up with Finlandia.
