To the Journal editor:
How is there no FM station broadcasting Detroit Tigers baseball in the central U.P.? Sure, they can be had on the local AM station, but try heading a few miles outside of Marquette; by the time you are in Green Garden or Negaunee the rhythmic "whoosh whoosh" and high-pitched screech of empty airwaves overwhelms your situation. Meanwhile, a few twists up the dial, a ping-pong tournament in Montreal comes in clear as a bell.
How I long for the good old days of the mid 1990s when the FM broadcast of the Tigers came in throughout the area. Nowadays if I'm at camp near Humboldt and want to hear a game I have to climb a cellphone tower wearing a tinfoil hat while waving around a fly-rod.
It's high time one of the bazillion worn out country or classic rock stations in the area steps up to the plate.
