To the Journal editor:
The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter Seventh Annual "Strut Your Mutt" Charity Walk for Homeless Animals was held Sept. 8 at Mattson Lower Harbor Park.
It was a record breaking success thanks to the outstanding support from our wonderful community.
Hundreds of dogs and their people pals enjoyed a great morning of socializing, food, contests, games, exercise and "dog-gone" fun. The power and compassion of our community rose over $25,000 for the shelter pets. All the money raised goes to help UPAWS sheltered pets find new loving homes.
A big thank you for the outstanding work done by every single person who participated, who attended, registered, raised pledges, donated, volunteered, spread the word and supported Strut Your Mutt.
Thank you to all local newspaper, radio and TV media, business and individual donors, as well as our hard working volunteers and staff. Without the support of our community UPAWS would not be able to do all it does for our homeless animals who cannot speak for themselves.
A heartfelt thank you from UPAWS and from the shelter pets.
