MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan University looks to keep its successful women's cross country season going when it competes at the Blugold Invitational in Eau Claire, Wis., at Whitetail Golf Course on Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats have already won both their meets this season at Michigan Tech and Wisconsin-Parkside.

NMU was initially set to run in a meet at Northwood University in Midland but that race was canceled. Northwood is the site of this year's GLIAC Championship meet.

"I'm excited for another big event," Northern coach Jenny Ryan said. "We'll see how the team performs against new and quality competition."

Teams scheduled to compete in the 6-kilometer race are Michigan Tech, Minnesota, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, UW-Platteville, UW-River Falls, UW-Stout, Hamline, Lakehead, Luther, St. Catherine, St. Scholastica, Viterbo and Winona State, which is ranked 10th in Division II's Central Region.

"It will also be good to get veteran runners Larissa Halonen and Katie Granquist back to racing after missing our previous race with some injuries and sickness," Ryan said.
