To the Journal editor:
Folks have been complaining to U.S. Rep. Dan Benishek, D-Crystal Falls, all summer long about his near invisibility up here in the Marquette area.
And we, who live out at K.I. Sawyer, have been inviting the congressman to visit us. He in fact told us he would come, but has never set a date.
As the election approaches, I would think a congressman would prioritize a trip to a community that is reaching out to him and asking for his leadership in formulating some sort of development plan.
There are buildings out here that could be torn down and perhaps much of the brick and other construction material recycled, there are roads that could be removed, and all kinds of other buildings and space for a myriad of other entrepreneurial ideas. Would solar or wind generation work out here?
If all of us work together we should be able to come up with a jobs/work plan. Oh, and by the way, we need more police and fire out here as well. Perhaps Benishek could consider pushing his party leadership to vote for the president's jobs bill to put more police and fire on our streets.
It might be time we use our vote to help Benishek find a new job.
